OUR WORSHIP SERVICE
Each Sunday, Pioneer Ocean View UCC gathers to worship as an intergenerational faith community. Our service is based on the traditional Christian liturgy of the Christian church and includes congregational singing, prayer, time for children, special music by our choir and/or soloists, and Scripture-based sermons that relate to our daily lives. Even those without a traditional church background will feel comfortable worshipping at Pioneer Ocean View UCC. To learn more about our worship service and listen to recent sermons, click here.
Current COVID Guidelines:
Health and Safety Guidelines: Masks are welcome and available at the door should you choose to use one. Please let greeters know if you prefer physical distancing.
To enhance ventilation, windows and doors will be open and fans will be in operation. Remember to dress accordingly. Out of concern for everyone's health and safety, please plan to join us for Worship via Zoom if you are experiencing any COVID or other respiratory symptoms or are concerned you have been exposed to COVID.
Let us continue to care for one another!
MUSIC
Choral and instrumental music has an important place at Pioneer Ocean View UCC. Our choir prepares anthems for worship services, as well as for seasonal events. We also have guest musicians who share their gifts with us in worship from time to time.
COMMUNION
Just as Jesus broke bread with His Disciples, we honor this tradition and break bread with one another during the first Sunday of every month.
CHILDREN
Children are welcome here! At POVUCC, we truly believe that we are "Better Together". For this reason, children join us in the Sanctuary for our worship, with their own unique "Prayground" area for learning, listening, and worshipping in our beautiful sanctuary, alongside the adults and teens.
A room for infants and their parents is available just behind the Sanctuary for nursing, diaper changes and toddler time.
ACCESSIBILITY
Devices to amplify sound are available for thos needing assistance with hearing. Our restrooms are ADA compliant and our chancel is wheelchair-accessible.
AFTER THE SERVICE
FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON
One of the values adopted by our church is to extend an extravagant welcome to all! Food is a big part of our extravagant welcome. Just as a family prays together and eats together, Pioneer Ocean View UCC holds a fellowship hour after our Sunday Services every week where members of our Hospitality Ministry greet us with a meal that they prepared in our very own church kitchen. We spend this time catching up with fellow church members and getting to know our new members. We invite everyone to stay awhile and join us in this wonderful time of fellowship.
DURING THE WEEK
Our worship does not end with an at "Amen" at the end of the service! We continue to support each other through our Fellowship Hour and weekly ministries such as our Prayer Groups, Bible Studies, Fellowship groups, service projects and Board meetings.
