THE LATEST NEWS

  • Common Ground Theatre presents Black Nativity, a moving retelling of the Nativity story through the lens of African American culture. The production runs on several dates, but we’re inviting our community to attend the Thursday, December 7, 3 PM performance, as Pastor Art Cribbs will be part of the cast. Pastor Art is the pastor of Christian Fellowship Congregational Church, one of our San Diego UCC Partnership Churches. He’s also the father of POVUCC member Kenya Bohn.

**The Partnership Churches may be purchasing a block of tickets together, so please reach out to Pastor Mary Sue if you’re interested.**

  • On December 8, POVUCC will hold an all-congregational meeting in the sanctuary, immediately following service (around 11:15am). Those who wish to attend virtually can join using the Zoom link for worship (see worship announcement above). There are two items on this agenda: Approval of 2025 Budget and Nominating Slate of 2025 of Church Officers. Copies of the budget and nominating slate will be available online and as hard copies in the narthex no later than December 1. Please plan to be in attendance on this important day!

  • On Sunday, November 24th, we will gather in our Fellowship Hall for our annual Thanksgiving Sunday POTLUCK luncheon following worship service. Please join us as we celebrate God’s generous gifts to our church and congregation!

POVUCC will provide a honey-baked ham and we ask that you bring a side dish to share such as a salad, dessert, veggies, fruit or other side.  If possible, please bring your dish in a disposable container, so clean up will be minimal. Let's enjoy and celebrate our many blessings together!  For those who are able, we request a $5-$10 donation per adult to replenish our lunch fund.

No need to sign up in advance.  Volunteers are needed to help with clean-up at the end. See Sally Stovall, Julie Lin or Susan Namba if you have questions. Hope to see you there!
