Children & Youth Education

Our Sunday School Program

As a family centered Church, we have a wonderful support system for our young children. You can find this support system rooted in our Sunday School classes.

Every Sunday, we begin worship as one body. After the Children's Moment, led by Director of Children's Ministries Cheri Metier, children and youth K-12 join their teachers to continue worshipping and learning in the Benson Building. We are excited to offer the program, "Children Worship and Wonder (CW&W) ", to all of our Sunday School children. "Children Worship and Wonder" is a worship-centered resource with storytelling, ritual, and fellowship that is used with children in churches to help them deepen their relationship with God. Our Sunday School meets from 10-11 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

Children will learn and share messages of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and other important seasons of Christianity with the entire congregation through song, drama and more. Special events and outings are also planned for families with children for fun and community building. This past year, a Children's Garden was planted by the children at POVUCC, who are proud to show it off to any interested party! This is a service project to the whole congregation.

If you would like to enroll your children or would like to come by for a visit, you are more than welcome to join us every Sunday at 10 am for an hour of Sunday School Fellowship!

Youth Program

Guided by youth leader, Sarah Howell , our youth group gathers together every Sunday to reflect on what it means to live a Christian lifestyle in a modern society, discussing topics such as love, relationships, school, stress, death, Christianity, homosexuality, friendship and Jesus Christ. Each year, the youth take time to assist needy members of the community (such as the homeless), engage in retreats to Pilgrim Pines and in some years travel to the national UCC Youth conference. All are welcome to come by to join in the Sunday Youth Group meetings and activities.  Our youth meet from 10-11 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
