  • A special offering will be collected for the UCC Christmas Fund during our worship services on Christmas Eve, December 24th. The Christmas Fund offering will be used to help servants of the church who have insufficient income in retirement, retirees who need help affording health insurance premiums, or persons who find themselves in emergency situations that require swift assistance. It also supports a long-standing tradition of providing “thank you” checks to retired clergy who would otherwise be without funds during this time of year – a modest but tangible affirmation that their wider church family continues to love them and be grateful for their service. The needs of those who serve the church are real & we are working to ensure that no one goes without.

  • On December 15th, the Partnership Youth groups will be joining to celebrate Christmas a little early with a white elephant gift exchange, pizza, games and midnight broomball at Kensington UCC! Please RSVP to Sarah Howell.

  • Please join us for one or both of our Christmas Eve worship services on December 24th. At 10:00 am, we will be treated to a wonderful Christmas Cantata during worship service. Then at 5:30, join us for a Christmas Eve Candlelight service. After the morning worship on Christmas Eve, we will not have our usual Fellowship Hour lunch. As an option, please join your church friends for lunch at Souplantation in Kearney Mesa. Sign up sheet on the bulletin board.

  • One of the Board of Christian Education (BOCE) goals for 2018 is to coordinate and plan two (2) Soul Food Bible Study classes, one in the winter and one in the summer. For each study, we will need volunteer hosts and facilitators.  If you are willing to host a group in your home or be a group facilitator for the Winter Bible Study, please contact Judy Shimamoto at jshimam140@cox.net or (760) 522-6742 or Dr. Yuri Kaneda at ykaneda@cox.net (619) 370-4004 as soon as possible.  The Winter Bible Study will take place during the Lenten Season (the week starting - 12 February 2018 – ending by week of March 19, 2018).  Our plan is to have the Soul Food Studies in four (4) locations around San Diego like we have done in the past.

  • POVUCC will be donating 12 family gift baskets to the Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA) Christmas Basket program this year! Each family gift basket will include food for a holiday meal and a Walmart or Target gift card to purchase perishable items. There is a Christmas tree in the narthex with tags for all these items. If you would like to participate, please take a tag(s) off the tree, purchase the item(s), and then place the item(s) in the box marked “CCSA Christmas Baskets for Families” in the narthex by December 10th, when the baskets will be packed. Baskets will then be delivered to CCSA on December 13th. Thanks for your generous help and support!
