  • OPEN & AFFIRMING CONGREGATION HAS GREAT OPPORTUNUITY FOR PART-TIME OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR!

     

    Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ—overlooking beautiful Mission Bay in the Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego—is seeking a part-time Office Administrator to handle a variety of duties, including: basic office tasks, coordination of facilities usage by outside entities, preparation of materials for Sunday worship service, and general administrative support for pastor and lay leaders.

     

    The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications: minimum three (3) years of experience as an office administrator, or comparable position; exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal); proficiency in a variety of applications including Microsoft Office and MailChimp; experience managing content on websites and social media accounts; keen attention to detail; and proven track record in organizing and maintaining administrative records. Experience using cloud-based and digital records management system as well as familiarity with church software programs like Servant Keeper and EasyWorship a plus.

     

    As the public face of our church, the Office Administrator must be personable and friendly, as well as someone who can maintain confidentiality. The ideal candidate should also be dedicated to our mission: “To ignite hearts everywhere with God’s love.”

  • Sunday, January 27, we will hold our Annual Congregational Meeting at 11:00 am immediately following the worship service. We will elect new church officers and board members and approve the budget for 2019. We invite you all to attend. The 2018 Annual Reports will be available on Sunday, January 20 on the table in the Sanctuary entrance. Thank you for attending this important meeting. Our Fellowship Hour lunch will immediately follow the meeting.


  • You and your family are invited to join us on Friday, January 25 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM! We will start with sharing a potluck meal and then enjoy some New Year traditions together. Please SAVE THE DATE and more details will follow.


  • Through theInterfaith Shelter Network (a church-sponsored rotational homeless shelter), we have an opportunity to help our neighbor. St. David’s Episcopal Church in Clairemont needs our help in providing a meal, and possibly overnight hosts, for one night on Monday, January 14. Please see Susan Namba or Denise Jenkins if you would like to help!


  • Please join us on Saturday, January, 19 from 9am - noon to help pick fruit in Rancho Santa Fe. The produce collected will all be donated to a local food bank to help San Diego's food insecure, now estimated at over 500,000 individuals, one third of whom are children. In addition, our efforts help to reduce waste by diverting materials away from landfills. We will be partnering with ProduceGood (producegood.org), a local non-profit, who will provide instruction and equipment. All ages are welcome. A sign-up sheet will be available in the Fellowship Hall. Please contact Ronald Eng  for more information.

    2:00 – 5:00 pm MLK Jr. Parade March with the Partnership from Harbor Drive – Embarcadero Wear a Partnership t-shirt to either or both events (available at POVUCC a week before the parade – details to come).


  • POVUCC will be donating 12 family gift baskets to the Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA) Christmas Basket program this year! Each family gift basket will include food for a holiday meal and a Walmart or Target gift card to purchase perishable items. There is a Christmas tree in the narthex with tags for all these items. If you would like to participate, please take a tag(s) off the tree, purchase the item(s), and then place the item(s) in the box marked “CCSA Christmas Baskets for Families” in the narthex by December 9th, when the baskets will be packed. Baskets will then be delivered to CCSA on Dec. 12th. Thanks for your generous help and support!
