Let’s give our neighbors an extravagant welcome on July 4th! The Point will be open for fireworks viewing (gates open at 7:30pm). POVUCC volunteers will be offering snacks, soda and water. Please email the office if you would like to help (office@povucc.org). Invite your family and friends to come to our church’s spectacular Point to enjoy the fireworks! Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
As summer approaches, wouldn't you like to put a pair of sandals, flip flops or sneakers on the feet of homeless men, women and children so their feet may stay more protected? You can go to Amazon Smile on the CCSA website, www.ccsasandiego.org, and place an order to be delivered directly to the CCSA Clairemont center. Your generous donation will be distributed at CCSA’s Pacific Beach Homeless Outreach Facility. Amazon Smile will then donate back a small percentage of purchases, and those proceeds will continue to benefit our homeless population with food, clothing, and necessities.
Next Sunday, June 30th, Pastor Mary Sue will share with us about the worship, discussions, and decisions at out denomination’s gathering, General Synod. Our music, liturgy, and scripture will be taken from worship services during the five-day gathering in Milwaukee. Come next week and hear about what’s going on in the United Church of Christ.
We are invited to join the Partnership Churches to march in the Annual PRIDE Parade on Saturday, July 13th! Partnership t-shirts have been ordered, free for all marchers. Please notify Susan Namba if you are interested, so that we can get you size. You are also invited to a decorating party at Kensington Community UCC on Thursday, July 11th from 6:30-8:30pm. Pizza and materials will be provided.

Join us this summer on Sunday, August 18th for our theater excursion to the Cygnet Theater in Old Town to see Rock of Ages, a jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s! The performance begins at 2 PM and we will eat lunch at church before we ride the bus or drive on our own to the theatre. For POVUCC seniors 60 and better, the cost is $20. Non-members, guests and youngsters are welcome at $35. The bus will be an extra $9 round trip and includes a tip for the driver. Sign-ups begin June 23 and will run through August 4 th. See Louise Iguchi to sign up (or Linda Newton in her absence). The Cygnet Theater is located at 404 Twiggs St. in Old Town.
