  • On Sunday, September 22nd , we will welcome Dr. Jamie Gates to POVUCC. Dr. Gates, a cultural anthropologist and director of Point Loma Nazarene University’s Center for Justice & Reconciliation (CJR), will preach on the topic of Human Trafficking. Dr. Gates works extensively in this area, conducting groundbreaking research, co-chairing research and data collecting committees, helping to establish scholarships funds for survivors of human trafficking, as well as designing and implementing a drama-based peer-to-peer human trafficking awareness training in San Diego’s middle and high schools. He also serves as a faith-based organizer with regional and national faith-based organizations. Mark your calendars for this special Sunday!

  • If you enjoy singing but cannot commit to the church’s weekly choir, the “Non-Choir Choir” may be just for you. The Non-Choir Choir meets several times during the holiday season to prepare for the annual church cantata, and while it may be hard to believe, it is time to think about Christmas and the Non-Choir Choir. The cantata will be presented on Sunday, December 22nd at our 10:00am service.

Rehearsal dates will be as follows:

    • Saturday, October 19th (9:00am-12:00pm)

    • Saturday, November 16th (9:00am-12:00pm)

    • Wednesday, December 18th (6:30pm-8:30pm)

    • Saturday, December 21st (9:00am-12:00pm)

Please contact Andy at music@povucc.org by Sunday, September 15th if you would like to participate. This will give time to get music ordered prior to the first rehearsal.

  • Join us on September 15 when we celebrate the lifelong journey of learning and growing in faith. We will recognize our Christian Education leaders and teachers, bless our children as a new school year begins, and pray for God’s continuing guidance as we seek new ways to encourage spiritual growth for all ages!

  • The Archives Group requests the presence of its members and contributors, as well as those who participate in weekly Toban groups, on Sunday, September 15th . A photograph of each of these groups, Archives and Toban Groups, will be taken directly after service on that day. Archives has been working very hard to organize and create a display outlining the history of POVUCC. Please view the current installation located in the narthex. More panels will continue to arrive, culminating in an exhibit that will be installed prior to the 15th Anniversary of the church this October. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this significant project, Archives Group!

  • Our POVUCC Choir enjoyed a nice summer break and have resumed choir rehearsal. If you are interested in joining the choir or have any questions, please contact our Director of Music, Andy Mathews, at music@povucc.org. All are welcome! Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.
