  • This holiday season the Elderberries will help provide warmth for the homeless by hosting a blanket and warm clothing drive. Please bring your donations of new or used blankets, afghans, lap quilts, coats, jackets, and sweatshirts to place in the bin marked “Uptown” in the narthex. Donations will be accepted now and through January. Blessings one and all!


  • This year POVUCC will be donating 12 family gift baskets to the Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA) Christmas Basket Program. Each family gift basket will be given to a family in need and include food for a holiday meal and a Target or Walmart gift card that can be used to purchase perishable items. If you would like to participate, please take a tag off of the Christmas tree in the narthex, purchase the item(s), and then place them in the box marked “CCSA Christmas Basket for Families” by December 1st. Thank you for your generous help and support!


  • Please join us for a festive and delicious lunch at Brigantine in La Mesa on December 10th at 11:30am. Choice of clam chowder or the Brig house salad. Choice of 3 entrées: top sirloin steak, shrimp scampi, or mahi mahi. Dessert and coffee included. Cost for Elderberry seniors is just $20 (includes tax and tip) and guests (nonPOVUCC members and those under 55 years) are $38. Sign-ups begin Sunday, November 17th with Betsy Frazier. Payments are due by December 1st. See the flyer on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall for more information.


  • On December 1, the Church Council will hold an all-congregational meeting in the sanctuary, immediately following service. The budget for 2020 will be presented for congregational approval. Please plan to be in attendance on this important day!


  • Please join us in celebrating Thanksgiving with out Annual Church Potluck on Sunday, November 24th, following our worship service. We will be posting a sign-up sheet for food items plus anything you may want to contribute to the festivities. We will also need some volunteers to set up and clean up


  • Join us on Friday, October 18th as we prepare and serve a meal to San Diego's Voices of Our City Choir! We meet at 12:00pm to set up the lunch, serve at 12:30pm and will finish by 1:30pm. It is a joyous deed filled with music, food, and gratitude. If you'd like to help with food prep, or show up to serve the lunch, please let Susan Namba or Nancy Shimamoto know. “Be the Church” with us as we outreach to our neighbors in need!
