  • On May 27, as part of Pastor Mary’s Sue’s final Sunday before sabbatical, our guest worship leader will be Phil Porter. Phil is a co-founder of InterPlay, an organization that is “committed to fostering ease, creativity and community through the integration of body, mind, spirit, and heart.”Phil also serves as Minister of Art and Communication at First Congregational Church of Berkeley (UCC). His musical compositions are included in several denominational hymnbooks in the United States and Australia. When Pastor Mary Sue began imagining a sabbatical theme of “Faith in Motion,” she thought immediately of the powerful work of InterPlay and the leadership of Phil Porter. What a joy it is to welcome him to POVUCC!

After worship, join us as we wish Pastor Mary Sue “Buen Viaje” with a POVUCC potluck lunch! If you are able, please bring a dish to share for our special time of fellowship next Sunday after worship. If you are not a cook, we also need help with set up and clean up. Please sign up on the Fellowship Hall bulletin board. Pastor Mary Sue, Godspeed & blessings to you!

  • While Pastor is on sabbatical experiencing her spiritual renewal and rediscovering her joy in dance, our congregation will explore another form of spiritual movement with weekly tai chi classes. Sifu Mario Mayorga, head instructor of 5 Elements Martial Arts and Wellness Center, will instruct us in the noncompetitive, dance-like form of tai chi, which involves gentle stretching and exercise with mindfulness. Beneficial to all ages, it promotes fitness, flexibility and balance, and can relieve stress, anxiety and depression. Our beautiful inspirational ocean vista Point will be an excellent venue for this class, which will be offered free of charge to our congregation. Classes begin on June 24th!
